You've missed the Bird Food updates, admit it. Well, here's a new one to tickle your hungry bone!
Slow Cooked Sweet Potatoes
-3-5 high quality (preferably organic) sweet potatoes
Wrap each sweet potato individually in tin foil. Place in slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 8-12 hours. Eat.
Veal Muffins
-1 lb. ground veal
-24 ounces frozen sugar snap peas
-salt, pepper
-2 large omega-3 eggs
Heat oven to 450 degrees. Spread sugar snap peas on a large baking sheet, and bake for about 40 minutes, stirring once midway through bake time. Once you remove peas from the oven, lower temperature to 350. Put ground veal and the two omega-3 eggs into a large mixing bowl (remove shell from egg, first). Stick your hands into the veal egg mess and combine them. Add sugar snap peas, and mix gently until just combined. Grease an extra large muffin pan, and distribute veal mixture into six of the muffin holes. Bake for about 60 minutes at 350.
Healthy Oil Supplements
Udo's Oil 3-6-9 Blend
Barlean's Fish Oil
Barlean's Flax Oil
Take atleast one tablespoon each of the Udo's and the Flax oil everyday. Take atleast one teaspoon of the fish oil. You will be a better person.
As an aside, there's been a rash of stolen lunches at my school recently. Both teachers and students have had chips or cookies stolen right out of their lunch bags. Not surprisingly, I've had nothing taken. Why? When you're drinking oil by the spoonful, eating veal muffins, and munching on cold sweet potatoes, nobody is too excited to steal your lunch.
Tip of the Week:
Next time you're scared to do something, think of these baby ducks. Look at these little warriors. My favorite part is that they flap their wings the whole time they're falling. Honestly, they have no chance of flying with those little wings. But, they hop right out of the nest, flap their wings like they're bald eagles, and fall like rocks all the way to the ground.
It's the time of the offseason when many triathletes are looking to plan out 2009's race schedule. Should you take the leap and sign up for that ironman, or marathon, or century, or open water swim? Are you scared? Flap your wings! Maybe you'll fall like a rock... But, you can always bounce off the ground like the little ducks and keep trying.
